World Series of Off-Road Racing Season Opener at the Steele County
Fairgrounds in Owatonna, Minnesota
-
- Eagle River,
WI ( April 25, 2007) - The WSORR TOUR 2007, began May 19-20, with
Oberg Motorsports competing in PRO-2WD and PRO-4x4. In a show off support
for the entire off-road racing community, Scott Douglas had Mike Oberg
drive is secondary PRO-4x4 AMSOIL Kumho Tire Sycuan Resort & Casino
KC Hilites Ford F-150 race truck , while Scott Douglas was competing at
the same time, at an event on the West Coast. Of course Mike Oberg also
assumed his regular duties as the pilot of the #80 AMSOIL Kumho Tire
Chevrolet Silverado as well.

Round One
-
PRO-2WD
- The opening
round of WSORR competition saw Mike Oberg, battle it our with Scott
Taylor, Kevin Probst and Evan Evans. At one point in the race all four
drivers, had held the lead. At the finish it was 1st - Scott Taylor,
2nd - Mike Oberg, and 3rd - Kevin Probst.
-
-
PRO-4x4
- This would
be the first time Mike would be behind the wheel of a PRO-4x4 in actual
competition. The start saw Mike battle with Kent Brascho, with Mike
eventually taking command of the race. The finishing order was 1st -
Mike Oberg, 2nd - Kent Brascho, and 3rd - Al Drews.
-
-
Round Two
-
PRO-2WD
- Sunday's
race saw the top four in a similar battle as the day before.
Unfortunately, Mike Oberg was issued a black flag for going too fast
through a yellow flag area. After serving the stop and go penalty, Mike
found himself in the back of the back. The hard charging Mike applied the
Pro Power horsepower to the Kumho Tires, and quickly worked his way up to
third place at the finish. 1st - Scott Taylor, 2nd - Kevin Probst, and
3rd - Mike Oberg.
-
- PRO-4x4
- Once again
it would be a battle with Kent Brascho in the first half the race that
kept Mike pushing the four wheel drive truck to its limits. Mike came home
victorous, followed by Kent Brascho and Al Drews.
-
- The weekend
of racing for Oberg Motorsports was a success, four podium finishes and
the trucks went back in the haulers without any serious damage. Thanks to
Douglas Motorsports for the opportunity to drive his PRO-4x4 truck.
Scott Douglas came home with a pair of fifth place finishes at the event
in Pomona, California.

- Eagle
River, WI (April 16, 2007) - It’s been
awhile since I put out any updates so I guess its time. The 2007 season is
just about upon us and we’re looking forward to a great season on the
WSORR (World Series of Off-Road Racing). Opening weekend is set for May 19
& 20 at the Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna Minnesota. This is the
first time and Off-Road Race is being held at this venue and we’re all
excited about it. They promise a great track and an equally great
facility.
The Oberg Pro 2WD is being assembled as I write this. The Amsoil/Kumho
Chevrolet will be in top form when it hits the track. We’ll still be
using the American Racing Wheels to hold those Kumho Tires. The
rear axle will be filled with Precision Gears. We will again be
powered by Pro Power horsepower, with the help of an MSD
Ignition, and that will be put to the ground through a J&H
Transmission. All of these components will be lubricated with those
world famous AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants. The engine oil will be
provided through a tank built by Peterson Fluid Systems and pumped
by a Raceline Oil Pump through an Oberg Filter. For braking
we will be using pads specially designed for us by Hawk Performance.
Mike will be provided a safe and comfortable ride with the help of
Mastercraft Seats and FOX Racing Shocks. He will be monitoring
all aspects of the trucks performance through the use of Stewart Warner
Gauges which have become a new supporter this season.
We are also welcoming back a company that had supported us for a number of
years. That company is Lund International maker of accessories for
your Pick-up and Sport Utility. Lund had joined us back in the late 90’s
and was with us up until the 2006 season. There was some shifting going on
within the company and they had to pull back. The company has now
relocated from Anoka MN. to Suwanee GA. and are ready to get back in. I’ve
been in contact with Peter May, the Manager of Marketing Communications
for Lund, and he is glad to come back on board. After all, the majority of
people watching and attending Off-Road Races are Truck and SUV owners. So
now we get to show Peter and the rest of his staff what Off-Road Racing is
in the World Series of Off-Road Racing.
We are hoping that the Amsoil/Kumho Chevrolet of Oberg Racing will be much
faster this season. We have purchased a new aluminum block engine and had
the engine from last season freshened up. Each of these engines are said
to be putting out between 800 and 900 HP. They will be picked up next
week. Transmissions just arrived yesterday from Garden City Michigan. If
we can get all that horsepower to the ground Mike will be unstoppable in
his race for the Pro 2WD Championship.
